Sometimes learning to tablet weave through books can be perplexing. When tablet or card weaving, the novice weaver finds that turning individual cards can be time consuming and confusing as they begin to lose track of which cards are in the background and which ones are in the pattern. This video presents a clear and methodical way to track and turn the tablets as the weaver progresses through their pattern. A simple cross stitch magnet board available in most local craft stores helps the weaver to keep track of their place as they progress through the pattern and the method of separating the cards (or tablets) is a great way to keep the pattern and background turns organized. Once a rhythm is established, moving through the pattern becomes almost instinctive and the rate of weaving is sped up with chance of random card turning errors reduced.
In this video, Marni Niles (aka Marianella da Ravenna) generously provides the useful instruction on the cards.
