How to Make a Copper Rivet

Rivets are useful creatures, but they’re not always around when you need them. Here’s an interesting video on how to make a hollow rivet out of a tiny kite-shaped piece of flat copper. I’m guessing the same technique could be used with brass and steel.

Can anyone date this technique in history? It certainly looks like an old method, but I’d love some documentation.

Anyway, here’s the video. Enjoy!
