Nalbinding uses short pieces of yarn to create beautiful objects. One problem with the technique; however, is that it requires the artisan to either leave loose ends to be tucked in or a means of splicing the yarn. For single ply natural fibers like wool, a simple splice can be created using a drop spindle or a felted join, for plied natural yarns, a felted join also known as a split splice is needed. To join fibers that don’t felt easily, a Russian join provides a good splice that avoids those pesky loose ends. This video shows both the felted splice and the Russian join.
