How to Make a Lucet Braided Cord

Post image for How to Make a Lucet Braided Cord

This video shows how to make a lucet cord. A lucet looks like a “U” on a stick and you use the prongs to help braid the cord. There are lots of different designs you can make. You can use any colorful string or yarn, but sturdy linen or silk is best. The benefit of using lucet over, say, fingerloop braiding is that you can make the cord as long as you want. You just keep braiding until you have enough to hold your pants up or your dress closed or whatever.

Thnkyou :) I’ve had a lucet sat gathering dust that I haven’t been able to use properly for a few months now – I now have something to dowhilst sat by the fire at our re-enactment event in a couple of weeks!

Excellent. We should post a video on making aglets (aka lace tags) so you’ll have even more to do with your lace.
